Description

The Department of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospital located in the academically renowned Longwood Medical Area in Boston, is seeking an innovative leader who will inspire and direct a nationally ranked Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. This faculty position will be appointed as the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director, directly reporting to the Vice Chair of Education.

The successful candidate must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent, have completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency, and be ABR-certified. Eligibility for Massachusetts medical licensure and its acquisition prior to the start of employment is required. A minimum of three years of documented education and/or administrative experience at an academic medical center is preferred. Demonstrated ethical conduct, professionalism, interpersonal skills, organizational aptitude, and leadership abilities are essential. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. 

The Program Director will be responsible for the administration and operations of the program, including all activities related to recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, advising, evaluation, advancement, and readiness of residents for practice, retention of residents, academic productivity, maintenance of all academic records, and overall program leadership. The Program Director will ensure continuing accreditation of the program through application of Common and Specialty requirements. 

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at BIDMC is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and provides 8 resident positions per year in the four‐year diagnostic radiology training program. Residents rotate through Boston Children’s Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and participate in the AIRP program in Washington DC. 

The department offers several unique educational programs, including a Quality Academy, a trainee Leadership Development program, active global educational affiliation and exchange programs, and a Lifelong Learning Portfolio. BIDMC is a major Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospital with 649 beds, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and well-developed, multi-specialty clinical programs, including an NCI-designated Cancer Center. Candidates should be excited to work in an academic environment and committed to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The Department of Radiology includes a total of 44 residents and actively participates in the teaching of Harvard Medical School students. 

Candidates for this position should be ABR-eligible/certified and be eligible for full medical licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Additionally, candidates should be eligible for appointment at the Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School; salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. We are especially interested in candidates with fellowship training in abdominal imaging, neuroradiology or cardiothoracic imaging, and will consider all clinical areas of expertise.
